Set Up Your Group Types
What you will learn
Group Types are your ministry categories, like Bible Study, Fellowship and Support Group. Set up each type's defaults once, and every new group of that type starts with them filled in. Here's where to manage them and what each setting does. TimelyChurch is church management software, learn more at timely.church.

From the Groups page, click Settings. Every group type your church uses lives here, with its color, the kind of group it makes, and how many groups use it. Click Add Type. Give it a name, pick the kind of group, choose a color, and add a description. Now the defaults: how often it meets, a capacity, and whether joining needs a leader's approval. Set them once, and every new group of this type starts with them filled in. Ministry Areas is for teams. Ticking Songs would let leaders of teams of this type work in Songs and Setlists with no extra role. Click Create Type, and the new type joins your list. A type you've added can be deleted, as long as no groups use it. The built-in types stay, but each has an Active checkbox if you want to switch one off. Your list ends up exactly the way your church works.
