First, the Real Strengths of Each

We’re not here to knock two products that thousands of churches rely on. If your church is their fit, they’re a strong choice — and we’ll say so.

Subsplash

Best-in-class custom-branded native apps plus a serious media, streaming, and content platform. If your church wants its own app in the App Store and Google Play — your name, your icon — wrapped around sermons, video, and giving, Subsplash is purpose-built for exactly that.

Pushpay

Leading giving optimization and donor analytics, paired with enterprise ChMS depth (through CCB). If maximizing generosity and understanding your donors at a large, multi-staff church is the priority, Pushpay’s giving tooling is about as deep as it gets.

The Honest Difference

It Really Comes Down to Who You’re Built For

The clearest difference isn’t a feature — it’s the size and budget of the church each product was designed to serve.

Subsplash & Pushpay: premium, enterprise-tier

  • Both are premium and quote-based — you talk to a sales team, not a signup form.
  • Approximate pricing (as of July 2026 — verify on their site): Subsplash ~$300–500+/mo; Pushpay ~$199/mo for giving up to ~$500–800+/mo with its CCB church-management suite.
  • By their own market positioning, they’re “not built for churches under 1,000 or outside North America.”

TimelyChurch: small & growing, one price

  • Built for churches from a brand-new plant up to around 800 — not a stripped-down enterprise tool, a system shaped for your size.
  • Start on a generous Free Forever plan — no sales call, no quote, no credit card to look around. See plans & pricing →
  • One all-in-one platform, one price — a fraction of enterprise cost, and available in five languages for churches beyond the US.

The Honest Tradeoff

We’re a Web App, Not a Custom App-Store App

Let’s be direct about the biggest difference. Subsplash builds your church a custom-branded native app in the App Store and Google Play, wrapped around a full media and streaming platform. That is genuinely their craft — if that’s what you need, they do it better than anyone.

TimelyChurch takes a different road. Your members get an installable web app (PWA) — they tap “Add to Home Screen” and it behaves like an app, with no download, no app-store listing, and no separate app fee. For a small or growing church, that’s usually the sweet spot: an app-like member portal without the cost and overhead of shipping a native app.

The plain truth: if you specifically want a branded app in the stores plus a streaming/content platform, Subsplash is the right tool and we’ll happily point you there. If “works like an app on every phone” is enough, the PWA saves you a lot.

On Giving

Simple, Honest Giving — Not an Analytics Suite

Here’s where we’ll be straight with you: Pushpay’s giving depth and donor analytics go further than ours. If squeezing every insight out of donor behavior is your top priority, they’re built for that.

What TimelyChurch does is make giving simple and honest for a smaller church. Online gifts run on Stripe’s standard card processing — TimelyChurch adds no platform fee on top, so more of every gift reaches ministry. Donor statements and fund bookkeeping are built into the same system, not a separate product.

  • Online giving on Stripe, no TimelyChurch platform fee added
  • Donor statements and funds built in, not bolted on
  • Gifts auto-post to real double-entry books

The Honest Recommendation

No “we win.” Just a clear read on which tool fits which church.

Choose Subsplash if…

  • You want a custom-branded app in the App Store and Google Play with your church’s name and icon.
  • Media is central — you stream services and build a branded video/audio content library.
  • You’re a mid-to-large US church with the budget and team for a premium platform.

Choose Pushpay if…

  • Giving is your top priority and you want best-in-class donor analytics and optimization.
  • You need enterprise ChMS depth (via CCB) for a large, multi-staff church.
  • You’re comfortable with quote-based enterprise pricing and a sales process.
You’re here

Choose TimelyChurch if…

  • You’re a small or growing church (plant → ~800) that wants one simple all-in-one at a fraction of the cost.
  • You’d rather start on a Free Forever plan than book a sales call.
  • Built-in bookkeeping, a 5-language UI, and giving on Stripe with no platform fee on top matter to you.
  • An installable web app is enough — you don’t need a custom app-store app plus a streaming platform.

Before You Decide — Our Honest Gaps

We’d rather you choose with clear eyes. Here’s where TimelyChurch is not the right answer:

  • No custom app-store native app. We’re an installable PWA, not a branded app in the App Store or Google Play. If a store app is a must, Subsplash is the better fit.
  • No media/streaming platform. We publish sermons with a public podcast RSS feed, but we’re not a full video streaming and content platform the way Subsplash is.
  • Giving analytics aren’t as deep. Pushpay goes further on donor optimization. Our giving is simple, honest, and built into the books — but it’s not an analytics suite.
  • Messaging is Telegram, not SMS. We chose Telegram on purpose — two-way, rich, and free of per-message cost — but members do install the free Telegram app once. No background-check integration yet, either.

But if you’re a small or growing church that wants one simple system — people, serving, giving, bookkeeping, events, groups, and your website in one place, at a fraction of enterprise cost — TimelyChurch was built for exactly that. And the free plan lets you try the fit before committing.
